Alison’s expressive and elegant style of writing reached out and took me by the hand, inviting me aboard the decks of Lily to explore historical villages and countryside throughout England, Europe and Ireland.

For me personally, as a cruising sailor along the East Coast of Australia, our worlds upon the water offer us vastly different sights and experiences.  I was completely swept up in the beauty and romance of Europe and felt I was there with Alison and her family among the fields and flowers, gliding along historical waterways, aqueducts and ancient locks systems.

Alison not only opens the door of her Dutch barge Lily, she graciously opens her heart to share some of the most poignant memories in her life.  Enter, The Admiral, more commonly known as Buster the Beagle, or Buzz if you make it into his inner circle.

Being familiar with Beagle traits, the antics and expressions of Buster made me giggle often.  The relationship between Alison, her husband Roger and Buster adds a fresh definition to the family unit.  Alison shares with you what brought them together and the circle of life that ensues.

By the time you finish reading Boating with Buster you become more than just a reader of the book, you become a friend of the author.

I recommend Boating With Buster to anyone who loves dogs and travel.

Alison and Buster’s story is a beautiful collection of memories shared between two devoted friends who lived a marvellous life adventure together that many people might at first consider too hard.

I have no doubt that once you read Boating With Buster you will be dreaming of similar adventures with your own canine friends.
